Description:

The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History is a Smithsonian affiliated, nationally accredited museum, and it is the only congressionally chartered museum in its field. This museum tells the story of the Atomic Age - from early development, the Manhattan Project and Cold War, to today's peaceful uses of nuclear technology. It is a place to learn, to think, to imagine and to draw your own conclusions. From exhibits on nuclear energy and medicine, to the nine-acre outdoor exhibit that houses historic aircraft such as the B-29 Superfortress, there is something for everyone. At the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History, it is our mission to chronicle the past, describe the present and imagine the future of nuclear science.

Cold War Interests:

| One of the many permanent exhibitions at the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History is the Cold War exhibit. Here, visitors explore an extensive collection of military weapons developed in the Cold War era.

| The Museum offers education programs to visiting schools and teachers. In 2016/2017, suggested topics on the History of the Cold War include "60 Minutes to Doomsday" and "Decision to Drop."
