Description:

The Royal Air Force (RAF) Museum is one charity with two sites open to the public at Hendon in North London and Cosford in Shropshire. The site at Cosford opened as a museum in 1979. It offers an entertaining day out for all the family. A huge display of aircraft and exhibits are housed in wartime hangars. See cutting-edge experimental jets and the world's oldest Spitfire, and try motion rides.

Cold War Interests:

The Royal Air Force (RAF) Museum presents a big National Cold War Exhibition which tells the story of the Cold War. There are aircraft suspended in flying attitudes plus vehicles, memorabilia and audio-visual presentations. This is the only place where you can see Britain's V Bombers, the Vulcan, Victor and Valiant.

In addition, Academics, military enthusiasts and interested members of the public are being invited to attend the 2017 series of lectures from the Royal Air Force Museum's Research Programme. Topics are, for example, the "RAF strategic thinking during the latter Cold War years".
